MDC’s deputy organising secretary arrested

The MDC deputy Organising Secretary, Senator Morgen Komichi was yesterday arrested at Lupane Police Station in Matabeleland North province on frivolous charges of communicating falsehoods. Senator Komichi had gone to Lupane after he had been told to report at Lupane Police station last week.
Human rights lawyer, Alec Muchadehama who is representing Senator Komichi said the senator was still detained at Lupane Police Station and is expected to appear in court today. Senator Komichi is being charged with contravening Section 31A III of the Criminal Law (Cordification) and Reform Act when he addressed a rally at Negasha Stadium in Lupane in February this year.
The police are accusing Senator Komichi of communicating falsehoods and undermining the police by accusing the provincial police led by Edmore Veterai of confiscating three MDC vehicles in 2008.
In the run up to the sham June 27 2008 presidential run-off elections, Lupane Police impounded President Morgan Tsvangirai’s campaign vehicle and two others belonging to the Matabeleland North province and the Youth Assembly. The three vehicles are still at Lupane police station.
If the three vehicles are still with the police, how can they accuse the senator of peddling falsehoods. To get on the bad side of ZANU, you actually don't have to spread false rumours about them; you just have to criticise them, and you're in hot soup. That's the problem in dealing with bloodthirsty people, even if you on the right they just tramp on you, just because they can. Godknows what's coming at the next general election campaign period. I wonder if the military and police are going to show Tsvangirayi and friends any respect, since they now have been in government together. What they really want is to physically exterminate the MDC and rid themselves of any formidable challenge. They under-estimated Tsvangirayi's resolve and accumen when they challenged him to form his own party, now they they can't believe the monster that's now the MDC.
